Ortega 2008

VQA describes this wine as Fruity, Apricot, Peach, Apple, Pear, Gooseberry, Tropical, Good, clean fruit finish.

This grape, developed in Germany (pronounced "ort-TAY-guh"), is a cross of Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe. It major advantage is its ability to mature readily to adequate to high sugar levels early and in less than ideal growing conditions. For this reason, the variety has become a staple to wineries on Vancouver Island an in the most northerly extensions of the Okanagan Valley and, of course, the Shuswap where Recline Ridge Winery is located.

The somewhat exotic flavours of the wine -- including apricots -- make it both a good apéritif and a favourite with Asian foods.

A Gold medal winner at the All Canadian Wine Championships in 2010, this is the clear favourite!!!
