In 1975 Mike started wine making as a hobby and after much
success, decided to expand this hobby into what has become a
bountiful vineyard and productive winery. Over the years, Recline
Ridge has earned numerous awards in amateur wine competitions and
now repeat the success on the world stage of wine making.
Through his years of experience, Mike has
experimented with locally grown grapes such as
Ortega,
Optima,
Siegerrebe,
Madeleine Angevine,
Madeleine Sylvanner, Agria and
Foch, learning about the optimum
conditions needed to grow these varieties, and refining the
winemaking process to produce a flavourful and unique selection of
wines. With that knowledge, their vineyard went into production.
Recline Ridge Vineyards and Winery extends over
ten acres and hosts nine different varieties of grapes. In the
spring of 1998, Recline Ridge Vineyards and Winery began
construction of an expanded winery. This unique post & beam log
building is 3,000 total square feet on three levels and houses
both the winemaking facility, wine shop and tasting area. The
winery looks over the vineyard framed by Tappen Mountain and the
Tappen and Skimikin Valleys.
Recent additions include a new bottle shop and
the addition of semi-automated processing.
Mike looks forward to offering you some samples
of success.
